From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
